The Cardinals broke out to a 2-0 lead thanks to a two-run home run by Sean Reilly in the first inning, his fourth of the playoffs. The Maple Leafs chipped away with a run in the second on a Rob Patterson solo home run, his fourth, and a run in the fourth after Kevin Foley scored on a wild pitch.
Toronto broke things open with a four-run fifth, an offensive charge started by Damon Topolie�s two-run single. Mike Foley and Mike Asselin followed with RBI-singles and starter Tim Goheen settled down to improve his playoff record to 3 and 0. He gave up two earned runs on three hits while striking out seven and walking four. Goheen picked up two wins in the final series.
Hamilton starter Andrew Schwalm (0-1) took the loss in his first start of the playoffs. He allowed five earned runs on seven hits in four and two thirds innings. He struck out one and walked four. The Cardinals third run was scored by Shayne Ridley on a solo home run, his second of the playoffs.
Toronto added a run in the sixth on a Rob Butler sacrifice fly and two in the seventh on a two-RBI single by Jason Corrigale.
The Intercounty Major Baseball League will announce the Playoff Most Valuable Player and Commissioner�s Choice for Manager of the Year later this week.
