Oshawa Dodgers 9, Kitchener Panthers 2
In Kitchener, Ryan Balan pitched eight strong innings and chipped in with three hits to back the Oshawa Dodgers to a 9-2 win over the Panthers in the Intercounty Baseball League on Thursday.
Balan (2-1) gave up two runs and five hits while striking out nine batters and walking three. He also scored two runs and stole a base. Adam Stokes had a pair of hits, including a double, and drove in two runs for Oshawa.
Mike Olides (0-1) took the loss after allowing five runs and seven hits in five innings.
Ben Kangas blasted a solo homer in the fifth inning - his third of the season - and Rowan Anderson had a pair of hits for Kitchener.

Brantford Red Sox 7, Barrie Baycats 5
In Barrie, Dan Baribeau had three hits including a home run in the seventh inning and scored the winning run to give the Brantford Red Sox a 7-5 win over the Baycats.
Brad Hogeterp (3-1) gave up five runs - two earned - and six hits in 6 1/3 innings for the win and Greg Murphy retired the final batter for his first save.
Chad Elmy had a pair of hits and drove in two runs and Jesse Robertson had two hits and drove in the winning run with a pinch-hit single in the sixth inning.
Coogie Freedman (0-1) took the loss after giving up six runs and six hits in 5 innings. Sean O'Brien was two-for-three at the plate and scored two runs for Barrie.
