Kitchener Panthers 7, Hamilton Cardinals 5

In Kitchener, Mark Johnston had a pair of hits, including a two-run home run in the sixth inning to pace the Panthers to a 7-5 win over the Hamilton Cardinals in the Intercounty Baseball League on Thursday.

Joel Scott (1-0) allowed four runs - one unearned - and 10 hits in seven innings for the win and Mike Olides struck out two batters in a perfect ninth inning for his first save.

Jay Pilkington (4-2) gave up seven runs and seven hits while striking out eight batters and walking five in six innings.

Jeff MacLeod had a pair of hits, including his first homer of the season, and scored twice and R.J. Lambert added two hits for Hamilton.

Waterloo Tigers 4, St. Thomas Storm 2

In St. Thomas, Tyler Wilson drove in the winning run with a fourth-inning double to help the Waterloo Tigers to a 4-2 win over the Storm. The game was shortened to eight innings due to rain.

Matt Fuller (1-0) pitched seven innings, giving up two runs and seven hits with six strikeouts and Pat Hill struck out the side in the ninth inning for his first save.

Greg Heffernan had three hits, including a triple, and drove in a pair of runs in the win.

Kyle Stark (0-5) went the distance for St. Thomas, striking out 10 batters and allowing four runs and nine hits.

Ben Yormack had a pair of singles and drove in a run and Rick Ross and Jay Greaves each added two singles.
