Kitchener Panthers 2, Barrie Baycats 0

In Barrie, Adam Horostaj pitched 7 1/3 scoreless innings to back the Kitchener Panthers to a 2-0 win over the Baycats in the Intercounty Baseball League on Saturday.

Horostaj (3-1) allowed two hits, struck out four batters and walked two and Mike Olides tossed a scoreless inning to preserve the shutout and record the save.

Brad Bissell (3-2) gave up two runs and five hits and struck out eight batters in seven innings for Barrie.

Brian Carter was two-for-four with an RBI and Mark Johnston singled home the winning run with two out in the third inning.

In Oshawa, Jeff Tobin's triple in the fourth inning drove in the winning run to give the Dodgers a 7-4 win over the London Majors in the first game of a doubleheader on Saturday.

Ryan Balan (3-1) allowed four runs - one unearned - and six hits in seven innings. He struck out seven batters and walked three.

Greg Goss (0-2) gave up six runs - two unearned - and seven hits in four innings for London.

Tobin had two hits and scored twice and Mick Kurhan had a hit and drove in three runs.

Pat Tobin had a game-winning two-run triple and Matt Tosoni tossed six scoreless innings to help the Dodgers to a 10-0 win in the second game.

Tosoni (1-3) gave up three hits and struck out four batters and Darryl Jennings finished the game with a scoreless inning of relief.

Troy Kiesling (0-5) gave up five runs - three earned - and six hits in five innings.

In Brantford, Justin Bartkiewicz pitched six scoreless innings to help the Hamilton Cardinals to a 3-1 win over the Red Sox in the first game of a doubleheader.

Bartkiewicz (1-2) allowed four hits and struck out two batters. Brad Hogeterp (3-2) gave up two runs and five hits in six innings. He struck out 11 batters.

Brett Gibson paced Brantford to a 15-7 win in the second game. Gibson (2-2) picked up the win and Shawn Lynn (2-2) took the loss.

In Guelph, Jason Borghese had a three-run home run in the third inning to power the Royals to a 14-4 win over the St. Thomas Storm.

Casey Cooper (1-0) allowed four runs - three earned - and six hits in six innings for the win and Rob Dinwoodie added a two-run homer in the fifth inning.

Cory Wilkins (0-2) gave up 12 runs and 13 hits in 4 2/3 innings. Aaron Owen and Kyle Stark each had two hits for St. Thomas.
