In Hamilton, Shayne Ridley had three hits, including a two-run home run in the seventh inning, to give the Cardinals a 9-3 win over the Kitchener Panthers.

Jeff McLeod hit a pair of singles and drove in two runs and Andy Steeds singled and drove in two runs.

Mark McDonald (1-0) worked seven hitless innings for Hamilton, giving up one run with eight strikeouts and six walks. Craig Hawkins finished the game, giving up two runs and two hits in two innings.

Joel Scott (2-2) gave up six runs - one unearned - and seven hits in 6 2/3 innings.

Andy Pietraszko belted an RBI double in the ninth inning.
