Guelph Royals 9, Kitchener Panthers 2
In Guelph, Kyle Leon had three hits, including a home run, and drove in three runs to help the Royals to a 9-2 win over the Kitchener Panthers in the opening game of their best-of-seven semi-final series. Game two is Sunday in Kitchener.
Trevor Churchill added a pair of hits and scored twice and Rob Dinwoodie singled home the winning run in the third inning.
Mel Melehes (1-0) allowed one run and two hits in seven innings for the win and Tom Bertic (0-1) gave up six runs and seven hits in five innings for Kitchener.
Rowan Anderson had a pair of hits and scored and Joel Scott added a run-scoring triple for Kitchener.
