InterCounty Major Baseball Ends Search For New CommissionerThe Intercounty Major Baseball League is extremely pleased to announce that Jim Rooney has officially been appointed Commissioner.
Rooney is also Governor/President/Co-owner of the Ontario Hockey League's Guelph Storm and brings years of sports management knowledge to the Inter-County table. Earlier this week Rooney's Storm won the right to host the 2002 Memorial Cup.
A 3-man committee chaird by Barrie Baycats President Gary Calvert chose Rooney over 5 other applicants. League owners approved the committee's nomination unanimously. "He brings so many things to the table and his credentials are impeccable," says Calvert.
Rooney says his first order of business is to get to know everyone. "I have to connect with the owners and get briefed on their hopes and dreams," he says.
The Inter-County Major League's 2002 schedule will be released very soon with the season set to open the second week of May.
