Toronto - The Intercounty Baseball League kicks off its 86th season this weekend with regular season games scheduled for Saturday and Sunday.

The Barrie Baycats host the Oshawa Dodgers and the Brantford Red Sox welcome the Hamilton Cardinals in the season co-openers on Saturday afternoon. On Sunday, Brantford visits Hamilton and the Toronto Maple Leafs host the Guelph Royals, who won the IBL Championship in seven games against Brantford last August.

After relocating from St. Thomas in the off-season, the Stratford Storm will open their inaugural season at National Stadium on Thursday May 13 against Hamilton.

The London Majors open their season on May 22 in Brantford and host Stratford in their home opener on May 24 at Labatt Park. Former Intercounty player Scott Dart purchased the Majors from long-time player, manager and owner Arden Eddie in February.

The IBL welcomed back to the league staff Dennis Ryan as Supervisor of Umpires. Ryan was previously with the league for several years until the late 1990�s.

About the Intercounty Baseball League
The Intercounty Baseball League features nine southern Ontario teams that compete in a 36-game regular season that begins in May and concludes with the playoffs for the Jack and Lynn Dominico Trophy in August. The league first started competition in 1919 and is celebrating its 86th consecutive season of senior baseball in Ontario.
