London Majors Form Alumni Association

The London Majors Baseball Club, established in 1925, is proud to announce the formation of the London Majors Alumni Association.

A member of the historic Intercounty Major Baseball League (established 1919), and playing during their 80th season, the Majors look forward to building relationships with players, coaches, managers, and other team associates from the past nine decades.

Majors owner Scott Dart, whom purchased the ballclub from long-time owner Arden Eddie during the off-season, and Majors alumni director, Jeffrey Reed, have teamed to make linking the Majors past with the present a team priority.

"One of the reasons I purchased the London Majors was the teams deep history, and its importance to the fabric of this community," says Dart. "Through the formation of an alumni association, we can better recognize the accomplishments of the players, coaches and other team personnel who have proudly gone to bat for this community team since 1925."

Reed has played numerous roles with the Majors for parts of four decades, most recently third base coach and relief pitcher in 2001. Like Dart, Reeds connection with the ballclub stems from its community connection.

"It is a thrill to once again be a member of the London Majors ballclub," says Reed. "Ive kept score on the old wooden scoreboard in right field during my youth, worked in various public and media relations capacities, coached, and pitched. But perhaps my current post of alumni director means the most to me and this team. After all, this is why I will always be a London Major: the ballclub has a proud history. Scott deserves applause for recognizing the importance of our alumni members."

Immediately, Reed will begin to chart a complete roster of Majors from 1925-present, and will compile a database of Majors biographies. The Majors will release a first-ever alumni newsletter later this season, and an alumni section will soon be available at the teams official website, www.londonmajors.com. Plans for 2005 include a homecoming game and related events.

Reed encourages all Majors alumni to contact him by e-mail at [email protected] ; by fax at (519) 685-2442; or by telephone at (519) 643-6334. He will then forward an alumni application form, which will also soon be made available online, and will be made available at the Labatt Park concession stand during home games. There is no charge for registering as a Majors alumnus.

The Majors, under manager Ron LeClair, have opened the 2004 season with a record of 2-3, and are tied with the Kitchener Panthers at 2 1/2 games behind the first-place Brantford Red Sox. Londons next game is scheduled for Thursday, June 3 vs the Stratford Storm at Labatt Park, game time 7:30 p.m.

Dont forget: London Majors Media Day also is slated for June 3, from 4 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Meet Scott Dart, coaches and players, and even try your luck during batting practice! RSVP deadline is today. Contact coach Brandon Steele at [email protected].

Visit the London Majors website at www.londonmajors.com for a complete 2004 regular season schedule. A season pass for family of four is now available for only $100.
