In Toronto, Kevin Treichel smacked a two-run homer in the eighth inning to pace the Toronto Maple Leafs to an 11-10 win over the Brantford Red Sox in a showdown of the Intercounty Baseball League's top two teams on Sunday.
Carl Embro had two hits, including a two-run homer in the seventh inning and Danny Gibbons added four hits, including a double for Toronto, who moved to 2 1/2 games back of Brantford in the standings.
Doug Dimma (2-1) picked up the win in relief of starter Dave Steffler. Matt Kniginyzky retired the final batter in the ninth inning for his first save.
Eric Wolfe had three hits, including a three-run homer in the third inning, and John Mariotti belted a grand slam in the ninth inning to pull Brantford to within one run.
Releiver Stefan Strecker (3-2) took the loss for Brantford.
