Intercounty Baseball Results - Sunday July 4

London Majors 14, Hamilton Cardinals 13

In Hamilton, Pete Babcock homered and drove in four runs to power the London Majors to a 14-13 win over the Hamilton Cardinals in the Intercounty Baseball League on Sunday.

Kevin Virtue also homered and Kris Kewley added three singles and scored two runs for London.

Virtue (2-4) earned the win after allowing four runs and 10 hits in six innings of relief after starter Jeremy Middleton gave up nine runs in four innings.

Craig Hawkins (2-3) surrendered seven runs and seven hits in six innings.

Shayne Ridley, Jon McGinn and Mark MacDonald homered for Hamilton and P.J. MacDonald added four singles and scored twice in the loss.

Toronto Maple Leafs 13, Stratford Storm 7

In Toronto, Kevin Treichel was three-for-four and singled home the winning run in the sixth inning to help the Toronto Maple Leafs to a 13-7 win over the Stratford Storm.

Rob Butler also had three hits for Toronto and Jess Robertson homered and drove in four runs.

Dave Steffler (3-1) allowed six runs - five earned - and 12 hits in 5 2/3 innings.

Starter Brian Stewart (0-1) lasted just 1 2/3 innings, giving up five runs - four earned - and five hits in his debut with Stratford.

Ed Graham had three hits, including a two-run double in the fourth inning, and Matt Moir was three-for-four and drove in two runs.

The game between the Guelph Royals and Kitchener Panthers in Kitchener was postponed due to rain. A make-up date will be announced in the near future.
