Intercounty Baseball Playoff Results - Sunday August 1

Barrie Baycats 5, Guelph Royals 1

In Guelph, Cory Turchan had three hits and drove in a run to help the Barrie Baycats to a 5-1 win over the Guelph Royals in the Intercounty Baseball League playoffs on Sunday. The series is tied at two games each and continues Tuesday in Barrie.

David Latour was two-for-four with an RBI and a run for Barrie.

Jordan Neufeld (1-0) allowed one run and four hits in five innings for the win.

Kris Dabrowiecki (0-1) took the loss after giving up three runs - two earned - and seven hits in 5 2/3 innings.

Trevor Churchill and Kyle Leon each had a pair of hits for Guelph.

Toronto Maple Leafs 11, Hamilton Cardinals 5

In Toronto, Joe Colameco belted a three-run homer in the seventh inning to power the Toronto Maple Leafs to an 11-5 win over the Hamilton Cardinals.

Colameco drive in five runs for the Maple Leafs, who lead the series 2-0.

Russ Williams (1-0) picked up the win in relief of starter Dave Steffler, who allowed two runs and two hits before leaving the game in the fourth inning with an injury.

Jon McGinn, Shayne Ridley and Matt Fortuna homered and Craig Hawkins (0-1) took the loss for the Cardinals, who host the next two games of the series.

In Brantford, Tyler Burnell scored John Mariotti with a single in the bottom of the 11th inning to give the Brantford Red Sox a 7-6 win over the Oshawa Dodgers to complete Game 1 of the series, which was suspended on July 30.

Omari Briscoe hit a two-run homer in the seventh inning and Stefan Strecker (1-0) worked the final inning for the win.

Mark Wilson (0-1) allowed one run and two hits in two innings.

Mariotti added a pair of hits, including a run-scoring single in the 10th inning, to give the Red Sox a 3-2 win in Game 3.

Len Elias added a pair of hits, including a double, and drove in a run and Raul Borjas had a pair of singles and scored the winning run.

Matt Miller (1-0) earned the win with a scoreless inning of relief after Strecker gave up two runs and seven hits in nine innings.

Wilson (0-2) also lost the second game after allowing three runs and 10 hits in 10 innings.

Chris Sereda hit a pair of singles and Adam Sylvestre added a double for the Dodgers, who host Game 4 on Monday.
