Toronto Maple Leafs 5, Hamilton Cardinals 2
In Hamilton, Damon Topolie drove in three runs to pace the Toronto Maple Leafs to a 5-2 win over the Hamilton Cardinals in the Intercounty Baseball League playoffs on Tuesday. Toronto leads the series 3-0.
Danny Gibbons had three hits and scored a run, Rich Butler added an RBI single in the eighth inning and Joe Colameco doubled and scored in the ninth for Toronto.
Joe Thomas (1-0) made his debut with Toronto, replacing Paul Spoljaric, who departed the team to represent Canada in the Summer Olympics in Greece. Thomas allowed two runs and seven hits and struck out seven batters in eight innings. Matt Kniginyzky finished the game with a perfect inning of relief.
Mark Schuurman (0-1) gave up four runs and seven hits in 7 1/3 innings and Jon McGinn scored a run and picked up an RBI for Hamilton.

London Majors 2, Kitchener Panthers 0
In Kitchener, Tom VanKasteren tossed a complete-game five hit shutout to back the London Majors to a 2-0 win over the Kitchener Panthers. London leads the series 3-2 and will host Game 6 on Wednesday.
VanKasteren (2-0) had a 2-6 record in 11 regular season games, but has recorded consecutive playoff wins against Kitchener.
Kris Kewley led off the first inning with a single and then scored on a base hit by Steve Charles. Kevin Virtue padded the lead with a solo homer in the ninth inning.
Ian Hagan (0-1) allowed two runs and six hits and struck out nine batters in a complete-game effort for Kitchener.
Jeff Pietraszko had a pair of hits for Kitchener.

In Barrie, Kyle Leon belted a three-run triple in the ninth inning that gave the Guelph Royals a 7-4 win over the Barrie Baycats. Guelph leads the series 3-2.
Jamie Pogue had three hits and drove in a run and Trevor Churchill had a pair of hits, including a fourth-inning single that brought in the winning run in the fourth inning.
Brian Barr (1-0) allowed two runs - one earned - and six hits in 5 1/3 innings for the win and Aaron Little gave up a pair of runs in 3 2/3 innings for the save.
Brad Bissell (0-1) took the loss for Barrie after allowing three runs and eight hits in 7 2/3 innings.
Ryan Davis was two-for-four with a double and drove in two runs for Barrie.
