Guelph Royals win back-to-back IBL Championships



Guelph Royals 1, London Majors 0

In Guelph, Brian Barr tossed a one-hit shutout to back the Guelph Royals to a 1-0 win over the London Majors in the Intercounty Baseball League playoffs on Tuesday. Guelph wins the IBL Championship Series 4-1 to claim their second straight Jack and Lynne Dominico Trophy as league champions.

Barr (4-1) took a no-hitter into the ninth inning before Steve Charles led off the ninth with a double. Barr struck out nine batters and walked five in the win.

Sean Riley had a pair of doubles and drove in the only run of the game.

Tom VanKasteren (2-2) gave up a run and eight hits in eight innings for London.

Kyle Leon, who had six homeruns and drove in a playoff-leading 23 runs, was named the 2004 IBL Playoffs Most Valuable Player.
