Brantford Red Sox 12, Hamilton Thunderbirds 7
In Hamilton, Omari Briscoe belted a two-run home run in the eighth inning that helped the Brantford Red Sox to a 12-7 win over the Hamilton Thunderbirds in the Intercounty Baseball League on Sunday.
Briscoe also doubled in the win and Jeremy Hudon had three hits, including a triple. Tyler Moe chipped in with three hits and scored four times for Brantford.
Mark Ferguson (1-0) was the winner after allowing one run and three hits in three innings of relief after starter Stefan Strecker allowed six runs and 10 hits in six innings.
Andrew Schwalm (0-1) gave up four runs and four hits in 3 2/3 innings of relief in the loss.
Mark McDonald and Geoff Allen homered for Hamilton.

Ryan Hart (2-0) picked up the win with 3 2/3 innings of scoreless relief after starter Meleti Melehes allowed seven runs and nine hits in 4 1/3 innings. Aaron Little finished the game with his second save.
Mike Mitro (1-1) gave up two runs - one earned - and five hits in three innings after starter Kirk Martin allowed three runs and six hits in six innings.

In Kitchener, Joel Scott pitched a five-hit shutout across six innings to back the Kitchener Panthers to a 7-0 win over the Oshawa Dodgers in the first game of a doubleheader.
Scott (3-0) struck out three batters in the win and Adam Hummel finished the game with an inning of relief to preserve the shutout.
Toss Bargman had a pair of hits and drove in two runs and Jeff Pietrazko put the Panthers on the board when he stole home in the second inning for what turned out to be the winning run.
Brian Sewell (1-4) gave up six runs and 11 hits in a complete game effort for Oshawa.
Pietraszko added three hits, including a two-run home run that gave the Panthers a 9-4 win in the second game.
Ryan Roeder added a hit and scored three runs in the win.
Wes Koch (1-0) struck out two batters in an inning of relief for the win and Scott Harris finihsed the game with his first save.
Brad McConnachie (0-1) gave up nine runs - eight earned - and nine hits in six innings.
