IBL Playoff Update - Sunday August 14

Kitchener 23, Toronto 10

In Toronto, Brian Carter hit a grand slam in the 12th inning to help the Kitchener Panthers to a 23-10 win over the Toronto Maple Leafs in the Intercounty Baseball League playoffs on Sunday. Toronto leads the series 3-2 with Game 6 on Tuesday in Kitchener.

Harpreet Padda had four hits, scored five runs and drove in five more and Ryan Roeder had four hits and scored three runs in the win. Jeff Pietraszko hit a two-run homer and Andy Pietraszko added a solo blast for Kitchener.

Wes Koch (1-0) was the winner after pitching three shutout innings or relief.

Nildo Puertas tied the game with a two-out two-run homer in the ninth inning to send the game to extra innings. Rob Butler homered and drove in three runs for Toronto.

Dave Hatch (0-1) took the loss with an inning of relief.
