Cardinals Hold On To Third By Downing Panthers

Hamilton solidified their hold on third place with a 7-6 win over Kitchener, the team chasing them in the standings. Tom Robertson�s double scored Wayne Loyer with the winning run in the bottom of the ninth inning after the Panthers scored twice in the top of the eight to tie the game. Sean Reilly and Shane Ridley each pounded two-run home runs for the Cardinals, Reilly�s in the third and Ridley�s in the fifth. Jeremy Walker added a two-RBI single in the third. Craig Hawkins earned the win with three innings of relief. He gave up two runs and struck out three.
For Kitchener Mark Johnston had three hits and three RBI�s, Joel Scott had a double and two singles and Jeff Pietraszko belted a solo home run. Reliever and Player-Manager Steve Scagnetti came on in the ninth inning and took the loss.
Maple Leafs Remain Perfect At Home, Down Royals 12-4

The Maple Leafs remained perfect at home by hammering the visiting Royals 12-4. Rich Butler had a big afternoon with two, two-run home runs, one in the first and the other in the third. Brother Rob went 4 for 5 with a solo home run and a pair of RBI�s. Damon Topolie added two hits and two RBI�s. Chris Rauth picked up the win with four innings of relief. He gave up one run on two hits while striking out four and walking one. Starter Paul Spoljaric gave up two runs on five hits in three innings of work.
Guelph starter Ryan Armstrong took the loss, allowing seven earned runs on nine hits in seven innings. He struck out four an walked three. Nathan Grant led the Royals at the plate with a pair of home runs, a two-run shot in the second and a solo effort in the seventh.

Jason Head knocked in the winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning as the Storm moved two and a half games clear of seventh-place Waterloo.

Cory Torchan picked up the game-tying RBI, then the game-winning RBI as the Baycats came from behind to edge the visiting Dodgers 3-2. Torchan hit a solo home run in the eighth then knocked in the winning run with a single in the bottom of the ninth. Brad Grievison earned the win with one scoreless inning of relief. Starter Angus Roy allowed two earned runs on nine hits and struck out eight in eight innings. Graig Andrew led the Dodgers with three hits while Darryl Jennings took the loss after loading the bases in the ninth and surrendering the winning run.
