Hamilton starter Jason Pilkington silenced the St. Thomas bats Friday night with a dominating, complete-game gem as the Cardinals took a 1-0 lead in their best of five quarter-final series. Pilkington allowed just three hits while striking out ten, walking three and hitting two batters. The game was scoreless until the bottom of the sixth inning when Hamilton�s Jeremy Walker belted a two-run double, then Jerrod Haase added an RBI-single in the bottom of the seventh to complete the scoring. St. Thomas starter Kris Kewley pitched well but took the loss, allowing an earned run on four hits in six innings. He struck out five and walked six. Reliever Brent Kennedy gave up two earned runs in two innings on three hits. Kewley, Jason Head and Tyler Stevenson each picked up a single in a losing effort. Game two is set for St. Thomas tomorrow night at 7:30.
