Intercounty Baseball Results - Wednesday June 30

Hamilton Cardinals 5, Kitchener Panthers 4

In Hamilton, Jon McGinn stroked a lead off double and then scored the winning run in the bottom of the ninth inning to lift the Hamilton Cardinals to a 5-4 win over the Kitchener Panthers in one of two games in the Intercounty Baseball League on Wednesday.

Tom Robertson had two singles and drove in two runs, including the game-winner with a single in the ninth inning and P.J. MacDonald had three hits, including a double, and scored twice for Hamilton.

Matt Lynch (1-0) was the winner after striking out three batters in two scoreless innings of relief for starter Bill Lawrence, who allowed four runs in seven innings.

Darcy Osipinko (0-4) gave up one run and two hits in an inning of relief after starter Omar Goldson gave up three runs and five hits across 6 2/3 innings.

Harpreet Padda had a pair of singles and Mark Johnston had three singles and drove in two runs.

Toronto Maple Leafs 16, Oshawa Dodgers 1

In Toronto, Danny Gibbons had five hits and drove in two runs to help the Toronto Maple Leafs cruise to a 16-1 win over the Oshawa Dodgers.

Damon Topolie and Mike Grieve each had three hits and drove in three runs and Carl Embro added three hits, including a double, and an RBI in the win.

Paul Spoljaric (5-0) allowed one run and five hits and struck out seven batters in six innings.

Tim Smith had a pair of hits for Oshawa, including a solo homer ni the second inning and starting pitcher Travis Gilligan (2-2) gave up six runs in five innings.
