IBL Award Winners and All-Star Teams Announced

The Intercounty Baseball League today announced the All-Star Teams, Rookie of the Year and Most Valuable Player for the 2004 season.

Most Valuable Player - Rich Butler, Toronto

After a one-year hiatus from the Intercounty Baseball League, Rich Butler returned to the Toronto Maple Leafs lineup to win the IBL batting crown with a .484 average in 28 games. The First Team All-Star outfielder also hit a league-high nine home runs and drove in 32 runs to help the Maple Leafs clinch the 2004 IBL pennant.

Rookie of the Year - T.J. Shimizu, Brantford

T.J. Shimizu was named the league's top freshman after posting a .368 average, including six extra base hits. He was third among IBL leaders with 17 stolen bases and drove in 15 runs in 29 games. Shimizu was also named the second baseman for the IBL's First All-Star Team.

2004 Intercounty Baseball League All-Star Teams

The All-Star teams were selected by the field managers of each club on a five-three point system. Clubs were not allowed to vote for their own players.
