In Barrie, Jonathan Baksh had a pair of hits, including an RBI triple, and scored the winning run in the eighth inning to lift the Baycats to a 5-4 win over the Toronto Maple Leafs in the Intercounty Baseball League on Thursday.

Ryan Spataro had a pair of hits and scored two runs in the win.

Casey Virtue (1-0) allowed one unearned run and three hits hits in 2 1/3 innings.

Russ Williams (0-1) gave up one unearned run in one inning of relief after starter Dave Steffler gave up four runs in six innings.

Nildo Puertas had four hits and scored a run for Toronto.
